Rev. Donnie Thurman Jr. - Youth Pastor
Donnie Thurman, Jr. is a 37 year old native of Shelby, NC. Donnie is married to Rachin Thurman who is a chemist at PPG Industries. He attended Crest High School and Gardner-Webb University. At Gardner-Webb, Donnie majored in Sociology and Psychology. He also played football there, and he was a four-year letterman. Donnie has a passion for athletics, and what they do to help children in life.Donnie is a professional motivational speaker. He does workshops and trainings for organizations across the entire country. Since 2004, he has spoken to over 850,000 youth nationwide for many different school, churches, and organizations. Donnie serves as the Youth Pastor at Palmer Grove Baptist Church and enjoys ministry very much. He was ordained as a minister in 2012. Donnie is also very active in singing and is the Praise and Worship leader at his church. He became Assistant Pastor on January 2017.Donnie works as the Vice President of Human Resources at Holy Angels in Belmont, NC.
Carol Woodard - Administrative Secretary
Carol Woodard is a native of Philadlphia, Pennsylvania where she began her
Christian journey at New Hope Temple Baptist Church.
After moving to North Carolina she got a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. Upon graduation she got her Master's Degree (MBA) from Strayer University in Charlotte, NC. Ms. Woodard is a widow with five children, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She is formerly secretary of Cleveland County NAACP and is currently Assistant Secretary. She is a Sunday School Teacher and has been Administrative Secretary of Palmer Grove Baptist Church since January 2015.
Debra Thurman - Associate Minister
Debra Thurman is a native of Cleveland County NC. She’s married to Donnie Thurman Sr. They have three children and six grandchildren. She is an Associate Minister at Palmer Grove Baptist Church in Kingstown NC under the leadership of Pastor James L. Smith. She received her undergraduate degree from Gardner-Webb University and her Masters in Human Services from Liberty University. She is passionate about ministry and stands firm in the Power of Prayer.
