History
Palmer Grove Baptist Church was birthed July 9, 1929 in Polkville NC, under the leadership of Reverend W. A. Roberts, Moderator of the Ebenezer Association. The former location for Palmer Grove School was located in Polkville, NC. Over the past several decades, Palmer Grove Baptist Church has been blessed with dedicated and faithful Pastors :
- Reverend Charlie Hill 1931-1935
- Reverend Eddie Wray 1935-1955
- Reverend Willie McDowell 1955-1963
- Reverend L. C. Knuckles 1963-1979
In January, 1980 Palmer Grove Baptist Church was blessed with our current Pastor James L. Smith, First Lady Hazelene and their children. Amongst a number of things, Pastor Smith has taught Palmer Grove Baptist Church that “When you attempt great things for the Lord to expect great things from the Lord!”
In 1993, a new sanctuary was built and additional classrooms were added. In 2006 the church purchased 32 acres of land and completed The Family Life Center.
